I thought I’d let you all know that I’ll be writing a weekly column/post at Freelance Writing Jobs.
This should be fun! I’m really looking froward to contributing to the site. Deb Ng has built Freelance Writing Jobs into a real industry leader and I will do my damnedest to provide its readers with something engaging and worthwhile.
I think we’ll get the ball rolling next Wednesday. Keep your eyes peeled!

Gone Baby, Gone… 48 Hour Marathon Adjustment, My Fortress of Solitude and the World’s Best Spammer…
I took on a fairly large project that more than rounded out my January schedule. I’m doing some writing and a great deal of quality control as part of my project management responsibilities on a job that involves a little over a quarter of a million words of material.
That’s substantial in and of itself, but is certainly manageable by month’s end, along with regular work from other clients. However, in an act of greedy insanity, I then added an additional consulting project and some other jobs to my list and there’s A LOT to do between wrapping up the big project on the 31st and what’s already lined up for the following week. In other words, I’m busy. And then I’ll be busier.
The cardinal rule of blogging is frequent posting.
The cardinal rule of business is getting your work done.
Business trumps blogging.
As such, I regret to inform all of you who have expressed an interest in the 48-Hour Writing Marathon that I’m pushing the date back and will announce a new date upon my triumphant return from my fortress of solitude.
The funny thing is that I might be staring at an unplanned variation of the marathon over the coming two weeks, anyway.
The workload is stupid, but the clients are all AWESOME and I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to work with these folks on some exciting stuff. On the bright side, this work spree may very well allow me to take a few weeks off in the April to work exclusively on some of my own projects and to go to a slew of Royals games before they’re already buried ten games out of first place.
Oh, and on a lighter note… I have a comment spammer who hits one of my little silent moneymaker niche blogs every day about 9:00 a.m. It’s the usual pharmaceutical spam, but with a twist. He or she tries to sneak a link in on the tail end of a joke every time. These jokes have allowed me to give my oldest daughter enough material to keep her kindergarten class in stitches. Today’s joke from the World’s Best Spammer:
A joke for you! Who was Snow White’s brother? Egg White. Get the yolk?
Not Lenny Bruce material, but another classic for the younger set!
I’ll catch you later! I might try to sneak something in between now and then.
